W2/GC-007 - Sugarloaf Mountain

Day 2 of the SOTA Adventure birthday weekend brought us to W2/GC-007-Sugarloaf Mountain

Sugarloaf wasnt a very long hike, but it was a very steep hike. About 4 miles total and 1581ft of elevation. The first mile was very mellow. The second mile contain pretty much ALL the elevation for the hike.

Sugarloaf did sport a loverly viewpoint, but it fell just outside of the activation zone for the summit.

Trying to provide Crimson some relief from the flies.

The summit of Sugarloaf was heavily treed with and I’m pretty sure every black and deer fly in the Catskills was on the summit with us.

I made 13 CW contacts on 20m and 1 CW contact on 40m.

There was a lot of coyote poop on this trail. This fella must have been bigger than crimson!
