W2/GC-059 - Indian Head Mountain / W2/GC-058 - Twin Mountain North

I turned 40 on 6/13/2026 and to celebrate I decided to hike 4 summits for my birthday weekend.

On 6/11 in the company of Crimson and my buddy Charles we tackled the first two summits of the SOTA adventure birthday weekend.

W2/GC-059 - Indian Head Mountain & W2/GC-058 - Twin Mountain North

This was a fun hike, but it was EXTREMELY Humid, so we were sweating buckets the entire time.. We hiked a total of 9.53 miles with 2365ft of elevation.

On the summit of Indian head, we had a nice little clearing where I set up my 25ft random wire antenna. I was able to quickly knock out 10 CW contact on 20m and 40m. I decided to give 2m FM a try with my FT60 and picked able another 6 contacts. We refueled, changed out t-shirts and started the trek over to Twin Mountain.

Twin was a bit more of a challenge, A lot more bugs and the bands weren’t working in my favor. I still managed to pick up 6 CW.

Although very sweaty, knocking out 2 summits was a great way to start the birthday SOTA adventure weekend.
