W2/WE-079 - Lent Hill and W2/WE-074 - 2196

Since I’ve picked off all the summits closest to my home QTH, I’m now starting to expand my W2/WE activation reach.

W2/WE-079 - Lent Hill was an ideal fall activation. Cool weather with that crisp autumn smell in the air. A slightly hazy sky so the sun wasn’t to harsh. Perfect.

The summit just south of the Canandaigua lakes with a neat wind farm.

This and “2196” were both drive up summit activating on the side of the road near a farm field. Even though hiking to the Activation Zone is preferred, I really do enjoy the leisure of driving up and setting up in a wide open area like this.

Band Conditions were decent and the WX was great. I picked up 2 S2S QSO, one with British Columbia and one with California as well as a DX QSO with England. I was the 2nd OP to activate this summit and was able to help my SOTA and 1st activator pick up the complete for this summit.

W2/WE-074 - 2196 is a summit about 15 mins north east of Lent hill. I made 10 contacts while on 2196 with three S2S QSOs

Crimson would rather romp in the woods, but is always down for adventure.
