W2/WE-054 - Marrowback Hill / W2/WE-055 - 1470

This past weekend I picked off two more W2/WE summits, W2/WE-054 - Marrowback Hill and W2/WE-055 - 1470. I've been slowly picking away at my local summits and will now start to expand further away from my home QTH to continue my quest to activate all the summits in my region.

The entire activation zone for W2/WE-054 - Marrowback Hill is private property. Thankfully I was able to find a local landowner who let me set up for my activation on his front lawn. 

W2/WE-055 - 1470’s activation zone is also all private property and mostly farm fields. I was able to get permission from a local dairy within AZ and set up along the side of the road near one of the fields. The weather was brisk and we had a nice breeze, although I wish the wind was going the other direction to take the manure smell away from me. But that comes with the territory.

Band conditions overall were very good and I had some solid DX. I was able to work France, Sweden and the Czech Republic. I had a Spanish and German station chasing me but I did suffered from some heavy QSB at times and wasn't able to get their full callsigns. The icing on the cake for me was two S2S QSOs. W4V/RA-014 - Highcock Knob and W4C/CM-023-Green Knob. 

I'm looking forward to the W2 SOTA camp out this weekend. As much as I love an easy drive up summit activation. Nothing beats earning the QSOs with a nice hike up the mountain.
