W2/GC-011 - Huntersfield Mountain

Huntersfield mountain - W2/GC-011 is an easy 6 point summit that rests in the Huntersfield State forest. 

This was a mix of a drive up summit and a hike. A single lane DEC road cuts through the forest and takes you up some fairly steep inclines, but nothing some all wheel / 4 wheel drive can't handle. This is a great summit to activate if you want a bit of hiking but need to take it easy. 

At the top of the road I parked in a small clearing and set off for a 1.5+ mile hike to a picturesque lean too that has a nice overlook.

Unfortunately on the day I activated Huntersfield I had some spooky vibes as I hiked through the clouds and precipitation. This took away the overlook views but added an eerie ambiance which I really enjoyed. 

Having the lean-to was great because It allowed for a bit of an escape from the elements. Thankfully it was really only a fine mist and not actually raining. Aside from visually looking really cool, it helped keep the bugs away as we enter the warm / buggy season. 

I picked up 22 QSOs all on 20meters before hoofing it back to the car.
