W2/GC-112 - Overlook Mountain

This was my second SOTA activation of 2026, but my first in the Catskills.

I’m currently about halfway to the 33 summits needed for the 3500 club, but I decided to repeat Overlook for my first official hike in the Catskills of the year.

My friend T joined me for the trip down to the Catskills and we weren’t sure what kind of weather we were going to get. So we played it safe and hiked Overlook.

This is a pretty easy summit to hike with great views so it was a no brainer.

The day started off raining, but around 11am the sun broke out and it warmed up to around 70F and we ended up with a great day for hiking.

The HAM radio conditions were also fantastic, I made a total of 20 CW contacts on 15m, 20m and 40m.

I’m looking forward to the nice weather on the way and I’m excited for more mountain top radio adventures.
